Endless Sahara. In Mauritania, during the 300km day.
Nouakchott. A dusty, sandy city of about a million people. Not particularly pretty... this pic is of one of the nicest streets.

That pic of the burnt out tire is eerie (though probably the result of a relatively innocent situation) - but having just seen the movie Blood Diamond set during recent civil war in Sierra Leone, my imagination is a little overactive. Too bad that 'toilet' was likely no relief for your sore bum! Meanwhile, good reading for those of us whose butts are freeeezing back in TO...
